This is just the original page that I had up. I'm leaving it up in case anyone really likes it. Ha! That's funny!
Links to the file th99free.tar.gz
For now, this page will consist of links to other sites
(not intended to be 'remote-loading') that host the
th99free.tar.* file.
Basically, it consists of a little under 15000 (yes,
thousand) PC board settings. From motherboards to
floppy controllers to VGA boards. If it's pretty old,
it's probably in that file. I hope simply to make this
a central repository for links to the files. Hopefully
the name is a little easier to remember than 15 links
on 15 different strangely-named sites.
And now, on with the links...
http://www.ewetel.net/~florian.zumbiehl/
http://www.eckert.rwth-aachen.de/~pley/hardware/
http://www.tcnj.edu/~lieuall2/th99free/
http://www.c0wz.com/mirrors/hardware-settings/th99free.tar.gz
The www.c0wz.com link is not working as of October 28, 2001 (2:00am EST).
Not sure why, though.
Addendum(12/25/01 1:26AM EST): I believe that www.c0wz.com has gone away. And none of its mirrors
have mirrored the th99free file. Oh well, I'll leave the link up here just for fun.

This link is no longer working as of 12/25/01 1:06AM EST. I've mailed the owner, so, we'll see what happens.

Props (thanks) go to the maintainer of this server.
(You rock, man!) If you'd rather just look up one piece
of hardware than download the compressed file, this link
will take you to an uncompressed version.
Again, I thank the owner of this server for hosting the uncompressed version.
Hmm, since I'm feeling thankful...
Thanks go to the maintainers of all of the links on this page.
You all rock for paying for that bandwidth. If it ever becomes too much to bear,
don't feel bad for pulling the file, that's why there are so many mirrors.
Actually, FreeNet and Gnutella would be good places to mirror this sort of stuff.
If you've got some huge plot of webspace somewhere and feel like you want to mirror this file,
grab it from one of the listed mirrors, make sure your copy is good, put it up, and let me know
about it. I'll post your link here. You may email me at: ahaning [AT] gcfn [DOT] org.
Thanks!
[01/16/02] More links !!!
Thanks to daveandkay[at]bigfoot[dot]com for the following uncompressed copy!

After corresponding with an interested visitor, I've been thinking it might be nice to see how one might go about "restarting" the whole Total Hardware thing. Perhaps have a th02free? Might be nice. Except that it would require a couple time-consuming things:
1. Correcting any errors in the current collection.
2. Catching up on hardware released from 1999 to current.
3. Deciding on a format.
4. Deciding on a layout.
5. Doing the work.
If you're interested, mail me. I'd be happy to discuss this.
On another note, just in case someone out there that has any of the Total Hardware CDs comes across this page, I'd like to put out a request for a copy of it. Be it an ftp site that I could wget, a CD in the mail, or an ISO. That would be awesome.
If you do have one, please contact me at ahaning (at) gcfn (dot) org. Thanks!
[01/26/02] The entire CD!
No, it's not yet available. I've just received mail from someone who says
they have it and would like to give it to me. However, the problem is this:
Neither of us have a server that is online and capable of handling such a
thing (bah, stupid distribution of resources). So, I'll ask you all, if any
of you have a server online capable of handling that, I would appreciate it
if you could please contact me (ahaning at gcfn dot org) and let me know and
I'll put you in contact with this person (with their permission).
Thanks!

While webbrowsing this evening, I decided to see what new mirrors might be
available. I happened across a new uncompressed one:
eztechstuff.com/archives/th99/
And a couple of compressed Russian mirrors at
http://pq.ozersk.ru/ftp/hardware/
and
http://q.ozersk.ru/ftp/hardware
ftp://q.ozersk.ru/hardware
(Be sure to browse around on this guys site. He's got quite a wealth of
information available.)
PlanetMirror has the Total Hardware file and the Micro House books archive
available under the following link:
http://www.planetmirror.com/pub/jumpers
ftp://ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/jumpers
And again, if anyone has the original Total Hardware 1999 CDROM they'd like
to make available to me, please contact me. Also, if you have the
space/bandwidth to spare and wish to host the entire 630MB ISO, you can
contact me, as well. I suppose if you want to host it in a browsable format,
it might be better to burn it to a CD first, or mount it over a loopback
interface so that you don't have to worry about storing so many files on
your hard disk.
Thanks!
[02/11/02] Got entire archive, need mirrors...
Good news! I've got the entire archive online and available. However, before letting you all pound on the server where it resides, I need to find a couple good mirrors so as to distribute the load. So, if you have the capability to host a 100MB file (it's not exactly that large, I'd just like to be safe) and you'd like to be a mirror, email me at (ahaning at gcfn dot org) and I'll get back to you with the location. Unfortunately, until I figure out how to get the entire archive with thumbnails and all online, the mirrors will need to be able to get this to a Windows box so as to recreate the thumbnails. Right now, it's a ~60MB .tar.bz2 with a .bat file that runs a Windows/DOS program that recreates the thumbnails. For me, that's a problem, since the Windows machines I have at home are on modems, which aren't too conducive to uploading 60MB or larger files :).
Thanks!
[02/19/02] For the impatient....
If you're just dying to have a copy of the entire Total Hardware 1999 archive, you can get it here: http://freedom.cis.ohio-state.edu/~ahaning/th99.rar. Be warned, though, that it will take a bit of work. For one, if you do not have an unrar'ring program, you'll need to go to http://www.rarsoft.com and get it for your particular platform. Then, if you're using a *nix, you'll need to get to a Windows box in order to recreate the thumbnails. I did this on a P2-400 with 512MB of RAM running Win98 and it still took quite a long time (the .bat file says 35 *HOURS* on a P-100). Also, if you're using a *nix, you'll need to get some of filenames' cases changed so that the cases match those in the .htm files.
One nice thing about this particular copy is that it is quite small compared to the with-thumbnails version, so you'll have less time to wait to download it if you're on a modem (use GNU's wget for Windows or *nix I believe that most free *nix platforms have wget available, if not already installed) and there will be less bandwidth wasted for all. However, it will require quite a bit of diskspace to figure out how to get the archive "working" properly in a webbrowser(on *nix, that is.. since Windows uses case-insensitive filenames, you guys just have to download, unrar, create thumbnails, and enjoy. But the thumbnail-creation takes a while. Whatever).
Have a nice day.
